Privacy policy

Last updated: October 19, 2026

This policy comes from StompLink, the maker of the StompLink app. The short version: your audio and recordings stay on your Mac, and we only keep what’s needed to make your license work.

Your audio and recordings

StompLink processes audio locally on your Mac and never sends it to us. If you use session recording, recordings — audio, and video of the window you choose to record if video is on — are saved on your Mac, stay there, and are not uploaded by StompLink. Please get everyone’s consent before recording a call. (Your call app, of course, sends your audio to the person you’re calling.)

What the app sends for licensing

When you activate, deactivate, or when the app periodically re-checks your license (about once a month), it sends:

We store the key, machine hash, app version, and the dates of activation and the most recent check. If you bought StompLink, we may also store the email address used at purchase so we can help you recover a lost key.

Like any web service, our hosting provider briefly handles your IP address to deliver the request. We don’t store it in our license records or use it to track you.

Your account and passkeys

Your StompLink account uses a passkey instead of a password. The private part of a passkey never leaves your device or password manager. We store only its public key (plus a nickname and when it was added and last used), so there’s nothing on our side anyone could sign in with, even in a breach. Like a lock without the key.

To keep you signed in on the account, setup and recovery pages, our server sets a few short-lived sign-in cookies. They’re strictly for signing in and checkout, never for tracking.

Payments

Payments are handled by Stripe, on Stripe’s own checkout page and under Stripe’s privacy policy. We never see or store your card details. Stripe tells us the purchase went through, your email address and a customer reference.

Your email address

We use the email from checkout for exactly three things: receipts, your Finish setup link and account recovery (plus a heads-up whenever a new passkey is added). No newsletters, no sharing. We keep a scrambled (HMAC) version to find your account, and the readable address only briefly, encrypted, while an email is being sent.

What we don’t do

Where it lives

License records are stored with Amazon Web Services in the United States (us-east-2, Ohio). This website is served by Cloudflare. Payments are handled by Stripe under its own privacy policy; we never see your full card details.

Your choices

You can deactivate your Mac at any time. To see or delete the license data associated with your key, email support. Deleting it means the license can no longer be validated.

Changes

If this policy changes, we’ll update this page and the date above.
